It seems I’ve fallen a little behind on the blog! The reason is that yes, I have returned home from my backpacking trip.
After a successful month of French classes in Montpellier, I took the high-speed train up to Paris, where I saw some sights and met up with a Parisian friend. Then I was off to Charles de Gaulle Airport for an evening flight to Boston, where I was (not) welcomed back to the USA by a grumpy customs officer.
I spent a sleepless night discovering all of the moving walkways in Logan Airport, then continued on for a visit to relatives in Michigan. And finally, after 189 days on the road, I saw my house out the window as the plane descended into Bush Intercontinental Airport. It was the end of six months very well spent – I wish I could have traveled even longer, but the timing was right to come home.
Thank you to all of you who have followed my travels this year! I hope you have enjoyed reading my posts as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
Since returning to Texas, I’ve been busy settling back in and starting a new job in Houston, which is why I haven’t spent much time working on the blog. However, though I’m no longer traveling continuously, there are still many details from my trip (and hopefully many future travels as well) that I plan to write about here. So, I invite you keep an eye out for more posts!
